Question/Description

Discussion Question:

Jack is a manager of an Australian multinational company – operating in Pakistan, too. He has been recently transferred to Pakistan as operations manager and has to fit in the Pakistani work culture.

According to Geert Hofstede, national cultures – of various countries – differ on the following dimensions: individualism vs. collectivism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance and masculinity vs. femininity.

The table below shows Jack's cultural values (according to Hofstede's findings) and the Pakistani employees' motivational needs (according to Maslow's hierarchy of needs).

You are supposed to search Hofstede's results on Australian and Pakistani cultures on internet and/or books. And based on this information, compare and analyze both columns given in the table. Then write the implications of cultural differences (one suggestion EACH, refer to instructions for word limitfor Jack that what he should do, and how, to motivate Pakistani employees – by matching both columns.
